My work plan for the year was to investigate what services are around Nuneaton and Bedworth for young tenants. The charity that I have been working with is Doorway who work with young people within the age of 16 to 24.
The staff at Doorway are there to help and support the young people while they are living independently with things such as checking that they are not in any debt with their bills and help with attending appointments as well. They are also there for them if they want to have a chat and they also support the young people find and settle into living independently for the first time.
I have spoken to some of the young people face to face and they told me what kind of things that Doorway have help them with and what group activities are available to them.
Doorway told me they have a number of young people currently living in council properties in Nuneaton and Bedworth.
Here are some Housing Associations I found around Nuneaton and Bedworth who would also be able to support young homeless people:-

Our Mayor councillor Chris Watkins’ chosen charity this year is Doorway and he, along with his Fundraising Team, will be organising lots of events during his Mayoral Year of Office. To celebrate 21 years of the fantastic work of Doorway in Nuneaton, the charity hopes to own keys to No 21 – their very own property, purpose built to support homeless young adults.
